This project was a joy because the client was a lovely lady whose daughter is a friend of my wife. The daughter had convinced her mum that she needed a decking makeover and the results surprised her, to say the least.
This garden, near Ponswood, faces north-west but the deck was at the end of the short garden away from the house to get as much sunshine as possible. My client is a sun worshipper who loves to sit out on her deck taking in the outdoor air all year round. She surrounds herself with pots and plants and its her little oasis. It's fair to say that ME didn't want her deck made over at first. She didn't really see the need beyond the worries of it being slippery when damp.
She was glad her daughter talked her into it and she realised that her deck has a lovely natural pine grain. "I never knew my deck was that colour - I thought it was black!" she said.
A jet wash and two coats of water-based decking oil had worked wonders.
